Meet The Fred Meijer Administrative Staff!

Patrick Johnson is the full-time Director of the Fred Meijer Center for Writing.  He earned his Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition from Washington State University, followed by several years of work as a writing tutor, teacher, and Writing Center Coordinator.  While at WSU, he helped establish a statewide e-tutoring program that provided online tutoring to students from over 30 Washington colleges.  His scholarship and presentations have focused on small-group tutoring, program assessment, teaching, and tutor training.  He enjoys movies, books, and games from any medium or genre, hates pickles, and has an inexplicable love of rain.

Melanie Rabine is the part-time Writing Center Coordinator. She earned her BA in English Language & Literature from Grand Valley State University and is currently finishing her MEd in Literacy & TESOL. She has worked with the Fred Meijer Center for Writing for the past three years as both an undergraduate writing consultant and as the Graduate Assistant/ESL consultant, and she is excited about transferring her consulting experience to the administrative level. Though her area of specialty is in English writing, she has also worked on educational projects that have focused on ESL support, technology in the classroom, sociological trends, and embracing multi-lingual communities. When she’s not at GVSU, she spends her time playing and listening to music, making coffee, collecting hobbies (which could range from knitting to designing tattoos), wandering through nature, or traveling the country as often as she can.

Office Coordinator

Lisa Gullo is the office coordinator and maintains office and personnel files, processes office/administrative requests, manages phones and other communication, keeps consultants updated on their tasks and schedules.
