Coursework

The program is a combination of coursework and an internship. Coursework reflects the cross-disciplinary nature of water resource issues and includes courses from Annis Water Resources Institute (AWRI), biology, resource management, and public administration. The degree requires a minimum of 33 credits.

The data analytics badge is comprised of three courses (nine credits). Classes are offered on Pew Campus in downtown Grand Rapids.

Required courses:

  • CIS 635 - Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining
  • CIS 671 - Information Visualization

And your choice of one of the following:

  • CIS 677 - High-performance Computing
  • CIS 678 - Machine Learning

The nine credits that comprise the data analytics badge can be applied towards a master's degree in applied computer science or a master's degree in data science and analytics.

Graduates of the combined degree program will meet eligibility requirements to test for the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential. Graduates work at hospitals, medical centers, long-term care facilities, dialysis clinics, rehabilitation centers, WIC programs, community nutrition organizations, school nutrition services, and private practices.
