Classes are a combination of online and in-seat. In-seat classes are held in downtown Grand Rapids at the Richard M. DeVos Center, the LV Eberhard Center, and the Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences.

Students study a variety of public, nonprofit, health, and criminal justice topics including strategic management, grant writing, sustainability and planning, financial management, philanthropy, legal and ethical issues, research, policy, and organizational theory.

All Master of Education (M.Ed.) programs require a minimum of 33 semester hours.

Students accepted into the program may take up to four, three-credit graduate-level communication courses for a total of 12 credits their senior year. Taken in lieu of free electives, they will count toward the fulfillment of requirements for both their baccalaureate and graduate degrees.

The program is designed to enhance effectiveness and leadership skills central to various applications of professional communication in fields such as advertising, broadcasting, public relations, media, health communication, and research.

Data-driven decision making is occurring in a diverse array of fields, and individuals with these applied statistical skills are in high demand. Forbes now lists a Master's in Statistics as the second-ranked most desirable master's degree. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of statisticians has been projected to grow 34 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than most occupations. The professional components of a Professional Science Master's program (including an internship experience) will result in additional practical experience and stronger job prospects for graduates.

Deadline for fall semester is July 15; winter, November 15; spring/summer, March 15. Early application is strongly encouraged to secure course enrollment. Those applications received after the deadline will be considered on an individual basis and program availability. Late applicants should contact program director Kathryn Ohle, [email protected]. The $30 nonrefundable application fee is waived if you have previously applied to GVSU.
