As a twice-over alumni of GVSU, Dauvan received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Grand Valley State University. She also holds a PhD in English with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Originally from the Upper Peninsula, she currently resides in Rockford with her husband Mark and their four-year-old son Aiden. She participates in several programs at GVSU, such as the McNair Scholars Program, REACH Scholars, and Transitions. She loves helping students improve their college-level writing skills and aiding them in successfully transitioning into college and later into work life. She teaches courses in first-year writing, business communication, and coordinate the Writing Department’s internship program. The “Citizens of the World” connected course is an extension of her belief that the skills that we learn in college - like writing - help us to both know ourselves better, and to make the world a better place.
