The Kirkhof College of Nursing Alumni Association is hosting a CEU on Pain Management at the Spectrum Health Campus presented by Ruth Ann Brintnall, '85 and Associate Professor of Nursing at GVSU. The presentation titled "The Dilemma of Neuropathic Pain in Adults" will be 50 minutes in length.
The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. inside the East Auditorium at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus. Refreshments will be provided. This event is for Spectrum Health employees only. The Association will also offer a CEU event at the Mercy Health Saint Mary's Lacks Cancer Center on March 19, 2014. Click here for more details.
Basic objectives of the presentation will be:
1. Describe the burden of neuropathic pain in adult populations;
2. Contrast the characteristics of neuropathic pain when compared to other common forms of pain;
3. Refine assessment and early detection strategies for adults with neuropathic pain; and
4. List evidence-based pain management measures to manage neuropathic pain, including common pharmacologic therapies.
