A reception was held on October 5, 2013, in the Alumni House. The event celebrated the accomplishments of women who played varsity athletics, club sports, and students who have majored in physical education or movement science. The reception also supported an endowment fund in honor of Joan Boand and Patti Rowe, recognizing their pioneering contributions to advancement of sport and physical activity for women on campus. If you attended college after 1972, Title IX has affected you. Passed by the U.S. Congress that year, Title IX requires gender equality in any education program that receives federal funds.

Despite torrential rain, about 20 Lakers in Denver improvised and moved their cook-out to The Irish Rover Pub where they made connections and shared GV memories.
On June 26th, in conjunction with the National Athletic Trainers' Association Annual meeting and Clinical Symposia in Las Vegas, NV the GVSU Athletic Training Education Program hosted its 10th Annual Alumni Gathering. Nearly 50 alumni came by to reconnect and share their latest endeavors. The success of the event is proof of the strong connection and support that the program has with its past graduates and affiliated organizations. Current students also had the opportunity to connect with alumni and make connections in their attempts to secure internship and graduate assistant positions. Many thanks to Intercollegiate Athletics and the Movement Science Department for their support of this event.
Over 120 alumni from varying graduation years returned to campus to help freshmen and their families get settled onto their Allendale campus homes on August 20, 2013. The group assisted at several living centers including: North C, West B, North B, Swanson, Kirkpatrick and Robinson.
