River Bank Run

Be a part of one of Grand Rapids' biggest community events! Volunteers are needed to support the Laker for a Lifetime Team for the Fifth Third River Bank Run. FREE SHIRT AND POST-RACE PARTY ENTRY TO VOLUNTEERS WHO REGISTER BEFORE MAY 1.

Be a friendly face! Greet guests at the Laker for a Lifetime Team table; distribute T-shirts, packets, parking passes to team members. Answer general questions about the race. Promote the post-race party and spirit station. Enter guests into drawing for prizes. Some volunteers may assist with set-up or take-down of the table and signs at the beginning and ending of the expo. Shifts are encouraged to be at least 2 hours long. Some will help sell shirts and Bond-Band headbands. Encouragement of donations to the team to Student Support Fund Scholarship. Seed money and a cash box will be provided. Please arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled volunteer shift.

River Bank Run Race Day on Saturday, May 9, 2015

GEAR CHECK/VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
Shifts range from 6:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. 

Gear Check: Greet and welcome race participants. Distribute race packets and t-shirts to those who need them. Take items from FUNDracers and place identifying number on them. Gear check closes at 11 a.m.

Volunteers: Greet and welcome volunteers and spirit station participants. Check them in and review their shift duties. Distribute T-shirts to pre-registered volunteers. Alert the volunteer captain if a volunteer does not arrive.

POST RACE PARTY REGISTRATION/CHECK-IN
Shifts available from 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 

Check off pre-registered guests on guest list. Obtain payment for onsite registrants - $10/adult, FREE/children 12 and under. Seed money and a cash box will be provided. For onsite registrants, the name of the alumni or friend of the university needs to be obtained as well as contact information including an email address, as well as the number of guests attending with them. Onsite registrants also need to be given appropriate number of wrist bands. Check IDs; distribute wrist bands for alcohol and food. Sell drink tickets ($2 each) for beer and wine.

MERCHANDISE SALES/ON-SITE DONATIONS/DRAWING

Shift available from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. 

Sell T-shirts and Laker Bondi-Band headbands while supplied last. Encourage donations to the Laker for a Lifetime Team to reach their team goal. Get people registered for the grand prize drawing for two tickets to the alumni suite or a trip on the pub cruiser.

SPIRIT STATION (any and all are welcome!)
Shifts available between 7:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. SIGN UP

Bring your loudest and best Laker spirit and noise makers to cheer on the Laker for a Lifetime Team for the River Bank Run. Shake cow bells, pound thunder sticks, bring encouraging signs and scream for the team as the run by the Pew Campus. The spirit station is located on Winter Avenue just outside the DeVos Lot at GVSU (#13 on this map). Lead volunteers make sure that others are not interfering with the race. Spirit station participants are encouraged to first check-in at the volunteer registration table. Volunteers are needed in shifts from 7 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
