AP Professional Development Minutes October 3, 2012

The AP Professional Development Subcommittee chair-elect for 2013 will be Kate VanDerKolk.
Please contact your group representative from the AP Professional Development Subcommittee if you have suggestions for future programs you would like to see offered.

The AP Professional Development Subcommittee met on October 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. on the Allendale campus. Chair, Laura Kennert welcomed members and opened the meeting. Members in attendance included:

The committee elected Kate VanDerKolk as the chair-elect for 2013.
The September Excellence Series sessions “Achieving Results Without Authority” was discussed. A new presenter, Beverly Washington did two sessions, one on the Allendale campus in the morning and one on the Pew campus, Grand Rapids in the afternoon. The evaluations reflected Beverly did an excellent job of presenting the material and she was well-received by the audience(s). Most participants said they would like the session to be longer with more information covered for leadership, time management, interpersonal skills and self-awareness development.
Laura thanked everyone for their work and encouraged everyone to use the standard moderator script for the “Excellence Series”. In addition to introducing the speaker, this piece of information will serve as an introduction of moderators as well as inviting AP’s to be more involved in the AP voting and award process. The wording was approved by the committee and will be used at each program.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 7, 2012 in 2243 Kirkhof Center. Meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m. Margo Dill reporting, October 4, 2012.
