The Excellence Series for winter 2012-13 is open for registration on the HR Sprout website . Check it out!

The next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 6, 2012 was cancelled due to no offerings during that time period.

Please contact your group representative from the AP Professional Development Subcommittee if you have suggestions for future programs you would like to see offered.

It was recommended that all group leaders send out an announcement for the winter semester Excellence Series to our respective groups in January.

 

The AP Professional Development Subcommittee met on November 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. on the Allendale campus. Chair, Laura Kennett welcomed members and opened the meeting. Members in attendance included:

The October Excellence Series sessions Social Media for Beginners was discussed. Two new presenters, Nate Hoekstra and Leah Zuber from News and Information Services presented the workshop. Their evaluations reflected how much participants enjoyed this overview of social media and felt comfortable enough to begin using new social media opportunities. They also stated they would like to follow up this class with a more advanced Social Media session.

 

The next review was Developing Emotional Intelligence. This session was presented by Deborah Disandro. Her workshop earned very high reviews by both the participants and the moderator. The third review was in regards to the Workshop, Clear and Effective Written Style. This workshop is part of a new initiative by the Writing Department to bring more opportunities for staff and faculty professional development. The upcoming session, Lifestyle Productivity has been cancelled for December 4th and it will be re-scheduled at a later date.

The next meeting of the APPD subcommittee meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 6, 2012 was cancelled due to no ES offerings during December and the Christmas Break. Next meeting will be February 6th in 2263 Kirkhof Center. Meeting adjourned at 9:43 a.m., Margo Dill reporting, November 20, 2012.
