Pre-major Program Advising for Students



Orientation 1st year at Grand Valley 2nd year at Grand Valley
 Enroll in courses suggested on the Pre-major advising sheet, including LIB 100 and US 102 Respond to emails sent to you by Pre-major advisor


Declare your major:
Use the online system in My Banner to declare your major so you will be assigned an advisor in your major





Attend Pre-major Advising Session at Transitions
Schedule an appointment with your Pre-major advisor
 Connect with appropriate advising center/faculty and attend events identified in the Career Services Office
     

 Continue to meet with your Pre-major advisor to discuss major selection
 Continue to use the Model for Academic and Career Success with a Liberal Education

 
  Enroll in US 102 to find out more about your interests, skills, and abilities and how to connect this information to majors and careers Continue exploration as a Pre-major:

Enroll in US 102 or meet with a career counselor in the Counseling and Career Development Center
 
  Attend Majors Fair in November and the Career Exploration Fair in January to meet faculty, alumni, and employers to learn more about your major and career interests
Meet with your Pre-major advisor to integrate all the information you have learned about yourself and the courses you have completed to determine how they connect with majors and careers
   
    Learn more about the major you plan to pursue by meeting with faculty identified by your Pre-major advisor
   
    Connect with employers at Career Services' Job Fair
   
    To declare your major use the online system in My Banner
