GVSU Art and Design
Apply
Admission to studio and art education programs at GVSU requires two steps. First, students apply to GVSU. Once accepted to the university you submit an application and portfolio for review by faculty members in the Department of Art and Design. Students pursuing the BA degree in art history do not need to apply to the Department of Art and Design. To declare this major, fill out the online Major Declaration Form.
Applying Online. Incoming freshman and transfer students may apply online after you have been accepted to the university. Once accepted, the university will provide you with a student G number, you will need this and your password to apply online.
The online process asks you to write about one of two topics (Why would you like to study the visual arts? or Discuss a work of art or creative endeavor that has influenced you, and explain that influence), list your academic and studio honors, submit your test scores, and has further instructions. You may begin this process by clicking here
Application Forms
The following forms are required for those not applying online.
Follow the instructions carefully to ensure that your application is complete and materials arrive at the Calder Art Center office by your chosen portfolio deadline. Within two weeks of the portfolio review, a letter will be mailed to you with the results of your application.
