Professor Paul Draus, from University of Michigan-Dearborn, has worked extensively on health and substance abuse risks among poor urban and rural populations. His work appears in a book about the rise of tuberculosis among Chicago's homeless and in numerous articles on substance abuse and social suffering in rural Ohio and Detroit.
The event is free and open to the public, presented by the Sociology Department, with support from the College of Liberal Arts and Science's Dean's Office and the Provost's Office.
