2014 Advanced Wind Band Performance Workshop
ALL EVENTS HELD IN THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (PAC), GVSU ALLENDALE CAMPUS
Description: The mission of Grand Valley State University is the enrichment of society through excellent teaching, active scholarship, and public service. As part of that mission, the Department of Music and Dance is dedicated to the development of performance excellence in undergraduate and secondary school wind band performers. We are, therefore, making signficant changes to our high school event in order to give selected students a more advanced musical expereince. This event is designed to increase participants' individual musicianship and attendee selection will be much more competitive than in previous years. Selected participants will be rehearsing and performing with advanced collegiate musicians and learning from GVSU faculty members and guest clinicians in a much smaller, more personal environment.
Guest Clinician: Lieutenant Colonel R. Michael Mench, Commander of United States Air Force Band Europe. Lt. Col. Mench is a former High School Band director who excels at working with young people and is an experienced performer and professional conductor. He has traveled the world several times over as a musical ambassador of the United States of America with countless performances for the President of United States and dignataries world-wide.
