2015 Junior High Honors Band



Description: The mission of Grand Valley State University is the enrichment of society through excellent teaching, active scholarship, and public service. As part of that mission, the Department of Music and Dance is dedicated to the development of performance excellence in undergraduate and secondary school wind band performers.
This year, we are offering a middle school/junior high (grades 7-9) honors band to engage with a wider range of school-age musicians in our area. In future years, we will be offering a chamber music festival and then return to a high school honors band. Our conductors for the event will be our own GVSU faculty: Dr. John T. Martin and Dr. Kevin Tutt with masterclasses by GVSU faculty and advanced student performers.
Fee: $20 (covers cost of food)

December 8, 2014: Director nominations due. Please submit recommendations at: http://www.gvsu.edu/music/honors-recommendation.htm.
January 12, 2015: All directors notified by email and given password to music. If you do not hear from us, please call or email! We may not have correct contact information for you.
January 26, 2015:  Permission Slip/Assumption of Risk and $20 payment due (make checks payable to GVSU). Please mail to Honors Band, Department of Music and Dance, 1300 PAC, 1 Campus Drive, Allendale, MI 49401.

February 21, 2015:
9:00 Check-in Lobby of Performing Arts Center
9:30 Rehearsal - breaks during rehearsal
12:00 Lunch (included)
12:30 Masterclass
2:00 Break
2:30 Rehearsal - breaks during rehearsal
5:00 Dinner (included) and dress for performance. Students should wear their normal concert dress - please do not spend extra money buying a special outfit.
7:00 Concert
8:30 Concert ends
