Student Organizations

College is more than the classes you take, you should get involved in other aspects of campus life.  Consider joining a student organization, participating in community service learning, or in club sport.  You may do this simply for enjoyment, or for professional development, but why not both?  These opportunities, along with the potential for gaining leadership training and experience, are available through our Office of Student Life.

Grand Valley State University has hundreds of student organizations, serving diverse interests.  Several organizations are primarily composed of Biology and Natural Resources and Environmental Management students, these include Biology Club, Pre-Veterinary Club, Soil and Water Conservation Society, and Wildlife Club, among others.

Biology Club

GVSU Biology Club

The GVSU Biology Club aims to help students build relationships with their biology faculty and classmates. Throughout the school year the club gives students a chance to interact with the community through various events. We also encourage and provide students with opportunities in the various careers and research opportunities in biology related fields. The Biology Club is open to any and all majors, only an interest in biology is required.

Fisheries and aquatic sciences club

GVSU Fisheries & Aquatic Sciences Club

The Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Club is a place for students interested in aquatic ecosystems. Our mission is the development of professional skills and to create a community of students that share a passion for aquatic ecosystems. To achieve this mission, students participate in service projects (e.g., fish sampling and water quality surveys), volunteering and community outreach, leadership opportunities, and club activities (e.g., aquatic-themed trivia nights). Join us and dive into an underwater world of exploration, learning, stewardship, and community.

Pre-Vet Club

GVSU Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club

Grand Valley State University's Pre-Veterinary Medicine Club is home to students passionate about careers in veterinary medicine.  Our members have a diverse interest in a variety of animals including wildlife, companion animals, and production animals.  This club provides interested students volunteer opportunities, meetings to hear guest speakers in the veterinary field, hands-on animal experience, as well as support and help in taking classes at GVSU and applying to Veterinary Medical school.

GVSU Soil and Water Conservation Society

The GVSU student chapter of Soil and Water Conservation Society is a service-based student organization that focuses on providing conservation-oriented volunteer opportunities for students interested in gaining field experience and networking with professionals. Through partnerships with local organizations, our group strives to provide a diverse set of activities such as: river clean ups, habitat restoration, ecological restoration practices, and educational outreach. Join our group to gain valuable experience and hang out with like minded students!

Wildlife Society Club

GVSU Wildlife Society Club

GVSU’s student chapter of The Wildlife Society is one of the newer clubs at Grand Valley to offer hands on experiences for those passionate about the outdoors and the wildlife that resides there. This organization focuses on giving students crucial out of the classroom experiences that will benefit future career development and endeavors. Constructing wood duck boxes, habitat restoration projects and networking with wildlife professionals from around the state are just a few of the ways The Wildlife Society offers both a practical and professional skillset to set you apart from others upon graduation. Come have fun with us, where the WILDlife is the good life!
