Brooks coat drive continues, supports students
November 05, 2019
***Do you need a coat or know someone who does? Go to Lake Michigan Hall, Room 133 to pick-up your free coat! A variety of sizes and styles are available. We also have hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves.***
Continuing its efforts from last year, the Office of Integrative Learning and Advising is again collecting and distributing new and gently used coats to Grand Valley students. Last year, 111 coats were donated and 35 coats were given to students, including one coat for a child. In recognition of its efforts on last year's coat drive, the Office of Integrative Learning and Advising received a 2019 Sustainability Champions Award.
This year, in collaboration with the students and staff of the Movement Sciences Department and students from the Iota Tau Alpha Athletic Training Club, donation boxes have been placed in locations across campus. Coats are then brought to the Integrative Learning & Advising Office where they are folded, sorted, sent for cleaning needed, and stored. Students in need of coats can go to the Brooks College Office of Integrative Learning and Advising, in Lake Michigan Hall, room 133, to make a selection. The coat drive is ongoing during the winter. This semester, 26 coats have already been distributed to students. We are also collecting hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves.
