Faculty and Staff Successes, October 2014

Leslie Bateman, director of Professional Development Partnerships for the Center for Adult and Continuing Studies , was elected to the Executive Committee of the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative on September 25, and she will begin her two year term immediately.

Craig Benjamin, associate professor of History and Honors, gave presentations, “Writing the First Big History Textbook” and “Big History and Meaning in the Undergraduate Classroom,” at the second biennial International Big History Association Conference in San Rafael, California. Benjamin also wrote an article,“But From This Time Forth History Becomes a Connected Whole: State Expansion and the Origins of Universal History,” published in the Journal of Global History.

Brian Cole, director of Research Assessment Development for the  Center for Adult and Continuing Studies , was elected to serve as the Chairperson for the Great Lakes Region of the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE).

Danielle DeMuth, associate professor of Women and Gender Studies, was a special guest editor for the Journal of Lesbian Studies. The special issue focused on the Influence and Legacy of Barbara Grier.
