Kelly James Clark, Visiting Professor in Liberal Studies and the Honors College, had his book, Religion and the Sciences of Origins, reviewed by Forbes.

Danielle DeMuth, Professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, received the Solidarity Award at the Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center Pride Awards on March 10.

Randa Elbih, Visiting Professor of Liberal Studies, gave the following presentations: “The Intersectionality of Technology and Art to Convey Meaning,” at the Teaching and Learning with Technology Symposium at GVSU; “Conducting Research for Teaching, Learning and Equity in the Classroom,” and “Equity in the Classroom: Teaching about Islam and Muslims while Countering Cultural Misrepresentations,” at the Equity Within The Classroom Conference hosted by GVSU on March 16 and 17.

Kurt Ellenburger, Associate Professor of Music in the Honors College, wrote an article, “And She’s Buying a Lawsuit to Heaven,” published in the Huffington Post.

Coeli Fitzpatrick, Associate Professor in the Honors College and Middle East Studies Coordinator, earned the 2015 ALA-RUSA Outstanding Reference Source award for a Book, Muhammad in History, Thought, and Culture: An Encyclopedia of the Prophet of God. She served as co-editor.

Gamal Gasim, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Middle East Studies, wrote an article, “Analysis: can Hadi Lead Yemen Out of Crisis?” published by Al-Jazeera, and was interviewed by Radio Student, from Slovenia, for a story about Yemen.

Cael Keegan, Assistant Professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, received the FIERCE Award at the Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center Pride Awards on March 10.

Sarah King, Assistant Professor of  Liberal Studies, gave a presentation titled, “The Sustainable Agriculture Project: A Place for Experiential Engagement” at the Annual Conference of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy on March 6.

Danielle Lake, Assistant Professor of  Liberal Studies, gave a presentation titled, “Dewey and Beyond: Wicked Problems and Undergraduate Civic Engagement,” at the Annual Conference of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy on March 6.

Amy McFarland, Assistant Professor of  Environmental Studies in the  Honors College, gave a presentation titled: “Re-sensitizing Students: An Introduction to Environmental Studies through Community-Based Environmental Struggles,” at the Annual Conference of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy on March 6.

Lisa Perhamus, Assistant Professor in the College of Education and Professor of Civil Discourse, presented, “When a Joke Isn’t Funny (and Other awkward moments)” at the Equity Within The Classroom Conference hosted by GVSU on March 16.

Ellen Schendel, Associate Dean of the Brooks College and Professor of Writing, presented “Beyond the Humanities: Offering a Bachelor of Science in Writing,” at the Conference on College Composition and Communication, held March 18-22 in Tampa, Florida.

Dwayne Tunstall, Assistant Professor of Philosophy and African/African American Studies, and Kelly Parker, Director of the Environmental Studies Program and Professor of Philosophy, organized the Annual Conference of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy on March 5-7.

Kathleen Underwood, Professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and History, received the Milton E. Ford LGBT Leadership Award at the Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center Pride Awards on March 10.

Judy Whipps, Professor of  Liberal Studies, co-chaired the Annual Conference of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy on March 5 to 7.

Judy Whips, Professor of Liberal Studies; Maureen Wolverton, Affiliate Professor of Liberal Studies; Danielle Lake, Assistant Professor of Liberal Studies; and Michael Ricco, adjunct instructor in the Seidman College of Business; presented “GVSU’s Accelerated Leadership Program: Motivating Adult Learners for Transformational Learning and Community Engagement” at the Equity Within The Classroom Conference hosted by GVSU on March 17. 

Judy Whipps, Professor of Liberal Studies, wrote an article, “A Pragmatist Reading of Mary Parker Follett’s Integrative Process” that was published in Transactions of the Charles Pierce Society Journal.
