Edward Frey Living Center

Named for a past Grand Valley Board of Trustees member and a past Board of Trustees secretary respectively, Frey opened in 2001 and accommodate 494 students in double rooms with individual bathrooms and a kitchenette in each unit.

Edward Frey

Edward Frey was best known for his leadership and entrepreneurial spirit. He was the founder and past board chairman of Foremost Corporation and Union bank and Trust Company. He attended the University of Michigan and was active with the school's athletic program. He was active with United Way and the Greater Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce and had a genuine interest in progress and social change. Mr. Frey and his wife, Francis, had four children - Mary, Edward, John and David. He served on the Grand Valley State Colleges Board of Control from 1960-1968. After his death in 1988, he was one of the first six inductees into the newly formed Greater Grand Rapids Hall of Fame (1989). Frey Living Center was completed in 2001 and is named in his honor.
