Arend D. Lubbers Stadium

Lubbers Stadium is named for Arend Don Lubbers, Grand Valley State University's second President. President Lubbers served from 1969 to 2001, one of the longest tenures of a university president in the history of the United States. President Lubbers heralded the colleges to university status and to its becoming the fastest growing university in Michigan.

Lubbers received his master's degree from Rutgers University, taught at Wittenberg College and served as president of Central College in Iowa before coming to Grand Valley State University Colleges in 1969.
