Student Professional Development Program
Mission
The Seidman College of Business Student Professional Development Program (SPDP) is designed to prepare students to successfully compete in the marketplace of the future. To accomplish this goal, we instill our students with the knowledge, confidence, and business savvy needed to gain access to and function successfully in their chosen professions.
The Student Professional Development Program is open to all undergraduate students currently enrolled in business courses at GVSU. This program is designed to develop academic and employment career goals through attendance at selected events.
Each semester, SPDP offers opportunities for self-improvement and self-discovery. Examples of these events include: Intercultural Awareness Training, Portfolio Development Training, Networking Skill Development, Dining Etiquette Training, Developing Interviewing Skills, and a Dress for Success fashion show.
Coming Fall 2012 The Seidman Passport Program: A vital part of the Seidman Student Professional Development Program is the Passport experience. This component of professional development consists of specially selected seminars custom tailored to prepare students for today’s competitive work environment. Once students have filled their “passport” or completed the necessary requirements of attending three elective events, four required events and a mock interview, they will be given a certificate of completion acknowledging their commitment to self-improvement and professional development.
