Career Services at Grand Valley provides students and alumni with a wide array of job-search and career-development opportunities. Services include job posting information, career advising, resume and cover letter writing, job search and networking strategies, simulated interviews, and much more. Plus, Career Services coordinates on-campus interviews for full-time jobs, internships, cooperative education, and summer jobs – and sponsors career fairs throughout the year featuring employers from key industries and business sectors.
Employee recruitment and job postings. LakerJobs, a free on-line system for students and alumni, allows employers to post job openings and attract highly qualified candidates. Employers can also use LakerJobs to search the GVSU’s extensive database of resumes.
Internships and cooperative education. By partnering with Grand Valley to offer student internships and cooperative education opportunities, businesses can benefit from the enthusiasm and fresh ideas of student workers. In addition, internship/co-op programs are a powerful recruiting tool that allows employers to review job performance before extending an offer for full-time employment.
Job fairs. Businesses can recruit employees by participating in on-campus job fairs involving select industries and business sectors.
Career Contact Bank. Employers can participate in the Career Contact Bank, which offers job seekers a database of alumni and other professionals who are willing to provide informational interviews and job-shadowing opportunities.
