Sustainable Community Development Initiative
The Sustainable Community Development Initiative is a strategy of Grand Valley State University to pursue sustainable growth through a balanced approach to environmental, social, and economic factors. The sustainability strategy integrates business and community outreach, sustainability education, campus operations, student involvement, and curriculum development. Through the Sustainable Community Development Initiative, businesses have access to sustainability information and data, regional partnerships, resource sharing opportunities, and the extensive expertise of the SCDI program director and staff.
Best practices. Small, medium, and large businesses have access to applied sustainability best practice information related to environmental stewardship, sustainable development, and social responsibility.
Sustainability network. The SCDI provides links to numerous other businesses, organizations, partnerships, and coalition groups focused on sustainable growth within the region and the country.
Information resources. Through the SCDI and its Green Library, businesses can quickly and efficiently access sustainability information via books, databases, journals, videos, blogs, and websites.
Involvement. Businesses and organizations wishing to become more involved in sustainability issues and practices can participate in activities, events, and programs sponsored or supported by the SCDI.
