Teacher Search

Teacher Search 2013, a job fair sponsored by Aquinas College, Calvin College, Cornerstone University, Grand Valley State University, and Hope College, will take place at Calvin College, Prince Conference Center, 1800 East Beltline S.E., Grand Rapids, MI, 49546, on Tuesday, April 23, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

At this event, you will be able to meet with representatives from multiple school districts.  In this challenging job market, even a few minutes face to face with a recruiter can provide an edge in securing an interview over simply applying online or by mail, so your participation in this event is recommended.

Most recruiters may conduct short introductory interviews while others may extend discussions to screen candidates more thoroughly.  Each recruiter will determine how to structure his/her time.  Some recruiters may conduct follow up interviews on site following the fair.

Plan to:

• Bring multiple copies of your resume, printed on high-quality resume paper.
• Dress professionally. A suit is preferable and don’t forget dress shoes.
• Arrive no later than 12:00 p.m., since some recruiters may leave early.

Although there is no fee, pre-registration is recommended.  To pre-register, send an email to smithsu@gvsu.edu with a subject line of “Teacher Search Job Fair.”  In the email body include your name and certification areas (e.g., elementary, secondary or special education, and your teachable major and/or minor and/or endorsement) as you would like them to appear on your name tag, and attach your resume by April 1, 2013.

By pre-registering, you will:

• Receive a pre-printed name tag available to pick up at the fair.
• Be included in a resume book given to all recruiters attending so they may contact prospective candidates when their hiring needs are known later in the summer.
• Be registered, without the need to sign in at the event.
