If your cumulative GPA is below a 2.000, a hold will be placed on your record preventing you from registering for the upcoming academic year during the March advanced registration period.
In order for this hold to be removed you must follow the process outlined below to receive the signature of your academic advisor. This means you will not be permitted to register until you have a signed registration form for each semester you intend to register for in the upcoming year. This process is the ONLY way to have the hold lifted for College of Community & Public Service students. Holds will not be lifted over the telephone or by email!
To avoid registration delays you should begin the process immediately by meeting with an academic advisor, or reviewing the plan you previously created with an academic advisor. This process should be completed prior to your registration day in order for you to register on time.
1. Meet with an academic advisor.
Call 616-331-6890 to schedule an appointment if you have not met with an advisor to create an academic plan in the past 6 months. We do NOT schedule appointments via email. Please call the office to get this process started!
2. Develop a schedule of courses
Using the academic plan you created with your advisor, use the schedule to find the specific sections you wish to take. Then complete the drop/add forms found in the packet (click on the image to the left) and fill out the classes you wish to take including course, day/time, and location for each semester. The schedule will be available after March 1st.
3. Have your schedule approved
Bring your planned schedule to 321C DeVos Center anytime during office hours after March 1st. You do not need an appointment. We will compare your planned schedule to the academic plan you created with your advisor and approve your plan. Please allow one business day for our review. Forms can be dropped off after March 1st.
4. Get Registered
Take your signed/approved registration forms to the registration windows on your day to register. Remember an approved plan does not guarantee you a seat if the course is full you will need to find an alternative.
