What is it? The Leadership Summit of Grand Valley State University is a state-wide premier leadership conference and campus tradition entering its 16th year. This year is expected to attract over three hundred college students from across the state and region. It is a student-run conference which strives to foster leadership development for undergraduate students, in multidisciplinary aspects of campus life. Composed of a dynamic keynote address, over 30 workshops to select from, a leadership case study competition sponsored by Omicron Delta Kappa, and more, Leadership Summit has something to offer students at every level of leadership! Leadership Summit will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 in the Kirkhof Center on GVSU’s main campus in Allendale, MI from 12:00pm - 8:00pm. Dinner will be served. How much does it cost?

2013 Creativity Sessions
Learning to Say Yes When is the last time you followed someone on twitter you didn’t like? Drove a different way to work? Tried a new restaurant? Took a class unrelated to your major? This breakout session focuses on forces yourself into new situations where you might discover something that inspires a new and exciting idea. The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) in the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University serves to champion and catalyze the vocation of entrepreneurship and innovation. In the session we will focus on breaking patterns and exploring entrepreneurial leadership principles.
This breakout session focuses on exploring your capacity and capability to unearth your authenticity as a leader. A creative mindset gives meaning and value to how you approach your life, creative endeavors, and pretty much everything you do. Having a mindset for creativity opens you up to opportunities and possibilities because you are able to relish the creative process and embrace innovative thinking. In the session we will look at the creative mindset, approaches to leadership and different motivational factors.
In his book Lessons from Ghandi Keshavan Nair states “The challenge for leaders is to live up to their fundamental responsibility as human beings: to treat others as themselves.” This breakout session focuses on understanding the methodology and application of a process leader. A process leader is someone who creates the conditions that allow others to succeed. In this session you will learn a core set of skills used by process leaders as well as how to brainstorm ideas and ways to put those ideas into practice.
Leading Others to See the Value Great leaders are great relationship builders. They get things done with and through people. Great leaders are also great educators, great learners and great story tellers. They communicate to inspire and as a result, they leave people more hopeful about their ability to contribute to a better future. In this breakout session we will explore the concept of values-based leadership. Values-based leadership is centered on collaboration and connection. In this session we will look at selling, convincing, motivating, and the environmental components affecting creativity. |
