1. GVSU Employee Departure Notice Process – From Human Resources
In addition to submitting a formal resignation or retirement notice to the Appointing Officer, Human Resources now requires the Supervisor (or Academic Coordinator) to complete the online Departure Form. Please go to GVSU Employee Departure Notice Process to submit the form when someone retires or resigns, and for helpful information and checklists for a smooth transition.
2. Thursday, April 21: PHI Club and the Absurdity of Life
For the very final Philosophy Club meeting for the semester, we are going to be discussing an incredibly relevant topic for finals week: Absurdity. Specifically, we are going to examine the ideas of Albert Camus in his famous work, "The Myth of Sisyphus." As human beings, we take on projects, construct values, and yearn for meaning in the face of a seemingly silent and indifferent Universe that mostly conspires to kill us unless we take action on behalf of ourselves. In the face of this absurdity, what does this mean in terms of meaning, free will, and autonomy? Come to this last hurrah and join the discussion in MAK-B-LL110 on Thursday at 6 p.m.PM. See you there!
Reading Materials: If you don't have the time to read "An Absurd Reasoning" then Camus’ short the "Myth of Sisyphus" will be plenty to join the discussion.
