Campbell - Marlais duo nominated for 2013 Int'l Music Awards
Date: November 30, 2012
Music professors Arthur Campbell (clarinet) and Helen Marlais (piano) received some great news recently. The Campbell - Marlais duo were nominated this fall for the 2013 International Classical Music Awards, one of the most prestigious distinctions available to classical musicians today. Other nominees in the chamber music category include the renowned Artemis Quartet, and the Grammy award winning Pacific Quartet. Nominees in the vocal category include soprano Renee Flemming; and in the symphonic category, nominees include the Berlin Philharmonic, the BBC Symphony Orcehstra, and the Los Angeles Phiharmonic.
About Campbell’s and Marlais’ most recent chamber music recording Pizzicato Magazine (Luxembourg) writes: “The perfectly balanced chamber music atmosphere of this recording, the sensitive dialogue between the clarinetist and pianist, are striking.” And Germany’s Fono Forum selected the duo for their Star of the Month award stating: “Campbell’s and Marlais’ playing is always exact, elegant, without excess. The beauty of this genuinely joint playing is so engaging that it seems to lack for nothing.”
