3. G3 early-bird rates end January 31
Don’t miss out on early-bird rates for registering for this year’s G3 (Grandparents, Grandkids, Grand Valley) Camp. While registration is open until April 30, lower early registration rates end on January 31.
Grandparents, Grandkids, Grand Valley is a summer camp at GVSU to be held June 25-27, 2013. Families will spend three days and two nights on campus, sleeping in the living center apartments and eating in the common dining halls along with college students and others on campus.
During the three day educational camp, children ages 8-12 and their grandparents will attend hands-on learning activities in areas like art, history, science, mathematics, engineering, technology, and law enforcement, to name a few. Class sessions will be taught by Grand Valley faculty and held during the day in the campus academic buildings. In the evening, families can choose from a variety of activities including swimming, playing volleyball, using the climbing wall, and playing games.
G3 is sponsored by GVSU’s Regional Math and Science Center and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Registration is now open at www.gvsu.edu/g3 or by calling the Regional Math and Science Center at (616) 331-2267.
4. Faculty Awards Convocation, February 7
As you know, the Faculty Awards Convocation honors faculty for major milestone years of service along with awards presented for University excellence in the areas of teaching, scholarship, service, and advising. 5. Confidentiality of Student Work- FERPA
Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act requires that the university establish a policy and adopt and enforce procedures to protect the confidentiality, accuracy and privacy of the information it collects on its students. The information collected on students may be viewed by those individuals who have a “business” need to use the data as determined by the University’s FERPA Officer; the Responsible Officer at Grand Valley is the Registrar.
Here are helpful links to information regarding FERPA policies at GVSU.

6. Dates for the 2013 Orientation Seasons (attachment)
The dates for the 2013 orientation season have been set, both for our incoming transfer students and new freshmen. The attached calendar includes all scheduled events for the coming spring and summer. Once again, the CLAS Academic Advising Center will be providing nearly 1200 individual spots for our newest transfer students - those are indicated on the calendar as "CLAS TSOR" and are listed in Green. There are also several "All University" transfer orientation dates this summer - those are listed in Blue. The dates for Freshman Orientation are listed as "FTIAC Orientation" and are shown in Red.
Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to staff and facilitate these sessions, both by your responsiveness to our enrollment requests and by your faculty who continue to provide outreach at all orientations. We’re looking forward to another successful year!
