2. Teaching Roundtables Coming November 21
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), working with the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center (Pew-FTLC) will be hosting the second annual Teaching Roundtables on Monday, November 21, 11-12:30 p.m. in the Grand River Room (KC). Like last year, CLAS will showcase some of the faculty’s excellent teaching practices. Faculty recognized in the past as one of our College’s outstanding teachers will serve as presenters and share their talents and ideas. We invite you to join us for lunch and to listen to the presentations and participate in a discussion of teaching ideas and innovation. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet more of your colleagues and share what we do best.
Detailed information and a registration link will be posted by Nov. 1 at http://gvsu.edu/clas/clas-teaching-roundtables-264.htm
3.Kutsche Office of Local History Accepting Proposals for Local History Research Grants
The Kutsche Office of Local History can provide funds to assist Grand Valley faculty and community researchers to conduct research that focuses on marginalized ethnic and social groups in Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon and Allegan Counties. Five to ten research grants ranging from $500 to $1000 can be awarded. All tenure-track, visiting and affiliate faculty and approved community researchers are eligible to apply for a research grant.
Applied scholarship and creative efforts that address issues pertinent to marginalized ethnic and social groups may also be considered, such as performances, exhibitions, documentary films, artifact preservation, records management, oral history interviews etc.
Priority will be given to research and scholarly projects that include Grand Valley student participation and projects that solicit input from members of the underrepresented group to be studied in the design and implementation of the research project.
Researchers may apply on line on the Kutsche Office website www.gvsu.edu/kutsche Application deadline: January 9, 2012
