This year’s CLAS Holiday Open House will take place from 11:30am to 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 12th in the Pere Marquette Room (2204 KC). We have extended the time this year until 2:00pm to include as many people’s schedule as possible. CLAS Holiday Open House
Unit Heads, please share with your staff as well.
2. The 2013 MI-ACE Network Conference
The 2013 MI-ACE Network Conference will be held in East Lansing on June 3-4, 2013. Through keynote speakers, educational sessions and networking events, learn new leadership strategies and create important career-advancing relationships. The call for conference proposals is now open.
Proposals related to the following topics are welcome:
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Transformative leadership
- Specific examples of higher learning institutions are advancing inclusion, (i.e. policies, processes, services, organizational infrastructure and culture)
- 40 years of Title IX and its impact on women's equity
- Public policy in Michigan related to gender equity and social justice
- Faculty research on women's issues and gender equity
- Topics of interest to women in academia, i.e. mentoring and career preparation
Submit a proposal at www.emich.edu/miace. The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday, January 18, 2013.
3. Tips for Syllabus Development
As one semester draws to a close, plans for the next semester are beginning. Creating a syllabus is one of those beginnings. In the latest email from the PEW FTLC, there is an excellent page of information for developing a syllabus that also includes sample policy statements that could prove useful. Feel free to share this link with your colleagues.
