1. 2013 Michigan Academy for Science, Arts & Letters Conference (attachment)
The 2013 Michigan Academy for Science, Arts & Letters Conference will be held at Hope College on March 22. This is an excellent opportunity for faculty, graduate students, and advanced undergraduates to present papers in a wide variety of fields, from Administration and Anthropology to Women & Gender Studies and Zoology. Attached is a Call for Papers.
2. CLAS Teaching Roundtables 2012
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) invites your participation at the third Teaching Roundtables on Monday November 19, 11-12:30 p.m. in the Pere Marquette Room.
The presenters at this year’s Roundtables are provided below. Titles and abstracts of their presentations, and registration are available on the CLAS website at http://gvsu.edu/clas/clas-teaching-roundtables-264.htm.

Based on a suggestion by a previous year’s participant, we will also have an additional “Challenge” table where faculty can bring up for discussion and brainstorming other topics related to pedagogy. You will be invited to provide your prompts and questions of interest if you sign up for the challenge table.
Remember this is an activity that can be included on your annual activity report.
Registration is required.
Affiliates, visiting, and adjunct faculty and interested APs are welcome to attend.
3. David Lang Days, November 12 & 13, 2012
Pulitzer Prize winning composer David Lang visits GVSU for a two-day residency. A variety of activities are scheduled, including workshops, master classes, guest lectures, and a film screening. One highlight of the residency will be a performance by the New Music Ensemble of eight of Lang's compositions. All events take place on the Allendale campus and are free and open to the public. 4. AN IDENTIFIED ENEMY - Roger Ellis
Theatre Communications presents a multimedia stage production regarding the Iraq war. AN IDENTIFIED ENEMY includes 25 students from different majors.
Performances are November 9-17. A reception will follow opening night.
Audience-response panels are November 11 and 15. Faculty, students, and veterans will discuss issues such as extraordinary rendition, post-traumatic stress, racial tolerance, and other topics.
Supported by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Middle Eastern Studies, Office of Inclusion and Equity, Alumni Affairs, and the Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies.
You and your students can receive reduced ticket prices ($2.00 off). Theatre@gvsu.edu
