For Faculty
1. Call for volunteers for CLAS on the Green
A couple of weeks ago you received an announcement for CLAS on the Green. This inaugural golf scramble will be held at The Meadows on the afternoon of June 20, with all net proceeds going toward the newly created CLAS Student Scholarship Fund. As you might expect, the planning committee is in need of several volunteers to run the registration table and a variety of events throughout the day. Volunteering is a wonderful way for non-golfers to play a vital role in the success of CLAS on the Green. So if you’re not playing, if you can afford to give an afternoon of your time on June 20 and if you would like to help launch the CLAS Student Scholarship Fund, please consider joining your colleagues by volunteering for CLAS on the Green—if you have interest in serving as a volunteer, please contact Aaron Perry via email at perryar@gvsu.edu . Thank you in advance for your time and support of our students.

2. Winter 2012 Grade Reporting Debrief
Thank you for all the efforts to provide the winter grades for our students prior to the noon deadline. We just completed the grade reporting process for Winter 2012, and it was the first time that a date of last academic activity was required for a failing grade. If a date of last activity is not provided for an F grade, an error message appears. If one does not read the error message and clicks Submit without providing that date, the grades for the entire class are not submitted. Perhaps a point for future emphasis will be to make sure that the date of last activity is included for F grades and to read the screen carefully to make sure grades were indeed submitted.
Given the increased incidences of latex sensitivity in the population, the health industry is increasingly becoming latex free, replacing latex gloves with nitrile, etc. The University is taking steps to becoming a latex free campus, most recently in food services, and one of the College’s potential goals is to contribute to this effort.
In order to determine the extent to which latex is in use across the College, we are polling the unit heads.
Does your unit use latex and if so, in what form (e.g. gloves, solution) and in which areas (e.g. classrooms, labs, studios)?
Please email this information to Roxanne Mol at molr@gvsu.edu by May 31.
