2. President’s Honor Roll (attachment)
Dear Colleagues,
This is an opportunity to showcase the many ways that you positively impact your students. The annual reporting of high impact practices provides a way to highlight the service learning in your courses, the internships you oversee, student-faculty research, and other student oriented co-curricular activities. This is reported via the President’s Honor Roll, a national award that GVSU has received each year of its participation. This data is collected each AY which spans SP/SU 11 through Winter 12.
GVSU has established exactly what are considered “high impact” practices. This will help focus your reporting. The categories have broadened from past requests and include:
Service Learning:
- Internships,
- community-based learning within a course,
- diversity/global learning,
- research,
- learning communities,
- writing-intensive courses,
- capstone courses, and
- collaborative assignments and projects
CLAS updated the service learning information from the 2011 report with this year’s current student numbers so if you have no changes in the service for your courses, we will place those in the report “as is”. Don’t remember? We provided your unit head with that information.
Co-curricular: not involving a course, but involving elements of service learning.
Please complete the attached form [attachment] for any new service learning courses and/or co-curricular activities save it with your last name and unit, and return it to me or Roxanne Mol by July 10, 2012.
Thank you for your impact on our students and your participation in this project to recognize your contributions!
