On Wednesday, November 7th, GVSU is teaming with the Grand Rapids Griffins to host a Healthy Lifestyles Fair for elementary and middle school students from around the area. The event will be from 9-11am with set-up at 8am on the concourse of Van Andel Arena. Each department or business will have a booth that educates students on ways to have a healthy lifestyle or activities they can do to stay healthy.
I would like to invite you to have a booth at the event this year. The more departments we have involved the more publicity GVSU gets and the more fun it is for students. The creativity used to educate the students is up to you. Departments are more than welcome to get clubs or other current students involved. By now you have probably noticed our trial of a streamlined and more sustainable CLAS Happenings monthly event poster. We realize there can be trade-offs when a promotional piece is not as showy as it once was. Gilman Scholarship Information Session

Fulbright Information Session
Are you interested in study/research or teaching English abroad after graduation? Come join us to learn about the Fulbright Scholarship Program and application process that help fund such opportunities. You must be a graduating senior or possess a bachelor's degree to apply for the AY 13-14 cycle; campus application deadline is September 28, 2012. Writing Compelling Personal Statements for Nationally Competitive Awards: Writing Workshop
In this workshop, students will learn strategies on how to write strong personal statements and statements of purpose that will engage a selection committee’s attention and make them stand out from the crowd. This workshop is geared toward students who are serious about applying for nationally competitive awards. Students applying for nationally competitive awards with early fall deadlines including Fulbright, Gilman, Marshall, and others are encouraged to participate.
