1. PIC offers grants for faculty development
The Padnos International Center is offering grants for faculty members to participate in seminars sponsored by the Council on International Education Exchange.
Grand Valley is a member institution of CIEE, which offers many faculty development seminars each summer. Seminars are short-term, intensive, educational experiences designed to challenge preconceptions and open minds to a wide variety of issues shaping the world. The 2009 seminars will be held in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
The deadline to apply for a CIEE grant is December 15. Applications are online at www.gvsu.edu/pic, click on "Faculty and Staff." Participation is limited to tenured, tenure-track, +and full-time affiliate faculty. For a list of seminars, visit the CIEE Web site at www.ciee.org.

3. CLAS Alumni News, call for news – request from Monica Johnstone
Soon I will begin preparing the second issue of CLAS Alumni News, an e-newsletter that reaches over 7,000 CLAS alums for whom we have an e-mail address. This newsletter contains news about Alumni, Faculty and Students.
I'm seeking any updates from you that I may not have received --with a focus on the period since we sent our first e-newsletter (May 15, 2008). There is no need to resend items you have already supplied to me.
