2. AP Award Nominations (March 6, 2009 deadline)
1. Dr. Triezenberg, Program Director of the Van Andel Education Institute, and Dean, Van Andel Institute Graduate School will be on campus February 10th. (attachment).
Dr. Triezenberg will be discussing summer research internships, Physician-Scientist training opportunities, and other opportunities. This event is co-sponsored by the CLAS Academic Advising Center and the Van Andel Research Institute. Please share this data and flyer with interested faculty and students.

3. Pronto: New Communication tools for Virtual Office hours and Student Study groups.
New Instant Messaging and Voice Communication Tools for Blackboard are now available to faculty and students. Wimba Pronto, was recently installed on the University's Blackboard system. Pronto is an instant messaging and voice chat tool that allows students and instructors to meet live and online. This new tool provides an opportunity for you to use instant messaging and/or chat to communicate with your students and/or groups of your students.
It is the perfect way for your students to host study group sessions. It makes it easy for faculty to hold an evening test review in their slippers at home or hold productive virtual office hours.
During this workshop we will also demonstrate the Whiteboard capabilities of Blackboard to enhance your online communication with your students.
Participants will learn how to use and install Pronto, as well as review the current collaboration tools (such as Blackboards virtual classroom) as additional communication tools.
