The fall Sabbatical Forum (optional) is being hosted by the Faculty Development Committee on Thursday, 9/29, from 3:30-5:00 pm in 308 Padnos Hall. This bi-annual event allows you to meet with members of the FDC committee to answer any questions you may have.
IT has announced a new online version of the Campus Directory. This enhanced version provides ALL of the same access to data that the printed campus directory has. It provides unlimited, unrestricted lists when searching within departments and advanced search functionality including ‘sounds like’ look-up. Campus log in is required.

3. Scholarly Writing Initiatives for Faculty & Staff (attachment)– Ellen Schendel
This year, the Fred Meijer Center for Writing & Michigan Authors is beginning a series of Scholarly Writing Initiatives designed for faculty writing articles, proposals, and books, as well as faculty and staff working on dissertations. These programmatic opportunities include:
- Participating in week-long writing retreats and in Friday mini-retreats at the Pew and Allendale campuses
- Scheduling one-to-one writing consultations with a professional writing consultant
- Joining a faculty/staff writing group
We will advertise these initiatives through new faculty orientation events this week and the writing center's regular mailings to SWS faculty at the start of the fall term, but appreciate your help in passing along the attached flyer to other faculty and staff you think would be interested in knowing about these opportunities.
