Unit Head Mailing 9-15-09
1. Ethics of dealing with publishers and marketing textbooks
3. Draft of the Standards and Criteria for Personnel Evaluation for CLAS
1. Ethics of dealing with publishers and marketing textbooks (attachment) - Jann Joseph
Last semester we asked unit heads to submit ideas and issues for discussions at our regular meetings. Some unit heads also sent along pertinent questions. We welcome these and will solicit responses from the relevant parties to share with you. The following response (see attachment) from Lee Van Orsdel addresses your questions about the ethics of dealing with publishers and marketing textbooks. We hope you find it useful.

2. Facilities Requests – Jann Joseph
This is a reminder that facilities requests are due on Oct 15. The guidelines and form are in the unit heads section of the college’s website. This fall we are asking that units submit only new requests. All requests submitted during the last academic year have been prioritized and are currently under consideration by the Facilities and Planning and the Provost office.

3. Draft of the Standards and Criteria for Personnel Evaluation for CLAS – Message from Grace Coolidge, chair of CLAS Faculty Council
The revised draft of the Standards and Criteria for Personnel Evaluation for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is available to all CLAS Faculty on Blackboard. Once faculty members have logged on to Blackboard, they can go to CLAS Faculty (under Organizations in which you are participating) and then to Discussion Board to view the draft of the standards. Faculty can also post a reply to comment on the draft. The Faculty Council would appreciate it if you would encourage your Faculty Members to read and discuss the draft standards. We value the faculty input and would like to have as many people as possible participate in this discussion.
Take care,
~Grace
