2. Time to Comment on University Strategic Plan Draft
As you read in an e-mail on September 4 from Julie Guevara, the University's new draft Strategic Plan is open for comment. In the coming year, CLAS will need to align its own updated plan with the Board approved plan (this could come at their mid October meeting) so the time to comment on the university plan draft is now. The updated plan can be accessed at: www.gvsu.edu/strategicplanning/ . Please review it and provide your comments to: stratplan@gvsu.edu .
3. Service Learning News – message from Mary Schutten
One of the things the college is emphasizing this year is service learning. There are two efforts underway in the Community Service Learning Center (CSLC) that we want to bring to your attention:
1. The CSLC is providing grants to faculty to foster the use of Service Learning as a pedagogy, primarily in general education courses. Look for more information including how to apply on October 1, the proposed launch date.
2. The CSLC is creating a web site for faculty and staff designed as a teaching, research and engagement tool for service learning similar to our peer institution, James Madison University, www.jmu.edu/csl
Please share this information with your faculty and look for more information from CSLC in the coming weeks.
~Mary
