Golden Wrench Route Setting Competition

The Golden Wrench is a peoples choice route setting competition designed to determine who is the best route setter at GV.

Requirements

  • Must be a GV Student, faculty, or staff member
  • Must be a GV approved route setter
  • Must register for the competition on Seminar

Plan
Competitors will set 1 boulder problem and 1 top rope route.  The difficulties will range from V1-V4 & 5.9-5.10d.  Both the location of each route and its difficulty will be chosen by random draw.  Setters will have approximately 3.5 hours to complete both routes.

Each route will be graded by the open hours users and Vertical Earth members over the course of one week.  Grades will be based on the following 4 criteria:  Creativity, Grade Accuracy, Flow, & Forced Sequences.  A time bonus will also be factored in based on a designated time allowance.
