Position Description
The Climbing Center (CC)/ Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) Graduate Supervisor (GS) position is an hourly position within Athletic & Recreation Facilities Management that requires a 20-25 hour per week commitment. The work schedule includes an average of three shifts per week that overlap the evening CC open hours and a minimum of one Saturday shift per month. The GS reports directly to the CC/ OAC Manager and is active in nearly all aspects of CC and OAC operation. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Monitoring the operation of the CC and OAC on a regular basis
- Assisting with hiring, training, and supervising student staff
- Developing and implementing programs and events
- Coordinating group visits to the CC
- Conducting OAC rentals and returns
- Customer Service
- Other tasks as assigned by Athletic and Recreation Facilities Management
This position holds a flexible start date.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the CC/ OAC GS position.
- Be enrolled in a Master's degree program at Grand Valley State University
- Be certified in Adult First Aid and CPR
- Have previous experience in a recreational setting
- Have a working knowledge of rock climbing and/ or other outdoor adventure activities (hiking, camping, kayaking, etc...)
