Job Opening: Graduate Supervisor

Position Description

The Climbing Center (CC)/ Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) Graduate Supervisor (GS) position is an hourly position within Athletic & Recreation Facilities Management that requires a 20-25 hour per week commitment.  The work schedule includes an average of three shifts per week that overlap the evening CC open hours and a minimum of one Saturday shift per month.  The GS reports directly to the CC/ OAC Manager and is active in nearly all aspects of CC and OAC operation.  Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring the operation of the CC and OAC on a regular basis
  • Assisting with hiring, training, and supervising student staff
  • Developing and implementing programs and events
  • Coordinating group visits to the CC
  • Conducting OAC rentals and returns
  • Customer Service
  • Other tasks as assigned by Athletic and Recreation Facilities Management

This position holds a flexible start date.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the CC/ OAC GS position.

  • Be enrolled in a Master's degree program at Grand Valley State University
  • Be certified in Adult First Aid and CPR
  • Have previous experience in a recreational setting
  • Have a working knowledge of rock climbing and/ or other outdoor adventure activities (hiking, camping, kayaking, etc...)
