Career Opportunity: Academic Research

Scientists at academic institutions such as research universities or teaching colleges are often devoted to searching for solutions to the same type of problems listed in the previous section. Scientists who decide on a career in academia usually have a strong interest in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. They also enjoy mentoring young students who are learning how to carry out scientific research.

Most all academic positions require a PhD, and often several years of post-doctoral training.
