Student Legacy Scholarship 

Application 

In 2007, student leaders on campus decided that it would be fitting to do all they could do 
to help fellow students by establishing a scholarship and leaving a lasting legacy. These 
leaders believed this demonstrated their continued commitment to affordable learning by 
investing in their peers. 

In addition, they believed that more scholarships were available to freshman and 
sophomores and that when students reached the junior and senior level there was less 
available to assist students in paying for their education. To that end these student 
leaders established a scholarship to benefit junior and senior level students who 
demonstrate leadership in service either through their on or off campus activities. 

Application Requirements 

1. 
Applicants must be entering their junior or senior year as an 
undergraduate. 
2. 
Recipients of this scholarship must demonstrate their current involvement 
in the community which may include, but is not limited to, on campus and 
off campus volunteer and philanthropic activities. 
3. 
Applicant must be enrolled with full-time status. 
4. 
Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or greater (4.0 system). 
5. 
Scholarships will be available to all students who meet all qualifications 
above. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated 
financial need by filing Free Application for Federal Student Aid 
(FAFSA). 
6. 
Submit a 2-3 page essay on your leadership in service and reasons why 
you should receive this scholarship. Must include reference(s).

Essay: 

Please attach a typed 2-3 page essay demonstrating your leadership in service through on 
and off campus activities. Please give 3-4 examples of your involvement, describing 
your role in the activity and what it meant to you to help the community. Also include 
why you feel you should be a recipient of this scholarship. Remember that the committee 
will read many essays, and you must make them understand why you should receive this
