All Spotlights » Donovan Anderson - Grand Marshall at April Convocation
Dr. Donovan Anderson is an associate Professor of German at Grand Valley State University. He is passionate about undergraduate education, and enjoys the opportunity to guide students on their first encounters with German language and culture and to see them grow and develop fluency and competence in the course of their undergraduate studies. During the spring semester he regularly accompanies GVSU students on a six-week program to study abroad in Germany. Taking students abroad and observing them as they grow and mature before his eyes is the most rewarding part of his job.
Dr. Anderson earned his Ph.D. in German from the University of Michigan. His dissertation examinded the emergence of German language and literature as a field of study at institutions of higher education in Germany in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. He has received awards from Fulbright and from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to study and conduct research abroad. He has taught at The University of Lausanne, Switzerland, Ohio University, The University of Dallas, and at the University of Education in Schwabisch Gmund, Germany.
