Apply for Field Placement
You must apply for your field placement the semester before you expect to participate in your clinical field experience. All students apply for field placements using the online Candidacy File system, but requirements are different for each program. See the Application Requirements below for more details.
Application Requirements
Teacher Apprenticeship Requirements
All students should submit their application materials for Winter 2025 by September 15th, 2024. Applications for Fall 2024 were due February 1st, 2024.
After a student's application and associated materials are submitted they will receive an email inviting them to schedule a Placement Specialist Interview. Student interviews with their placement specialist will begin in late August.
Teacher Internship Requirements
The deadline to apply for a Teacher Internship for Winter 2025 is September 15th, 2024. Applications for Fall 2024 were due February 1st, 2024.
Birth to Kindergarten Practicum Requirements
The deadline to apply for a Birth to Kindergarten Practicum is:
September 15th, 2024 for Winter 2025 semester placement.
Applications for Fall 2024 were due February 1st, 2024.

Scholarships

CPR and First Aid Certification
Note: Effective August 1, 2023, CPR/First Aid certification is no longer required to receive a Michigan teaching certificate. Instead, this requirement must be fulfilled as part of new teachers’ in-service professional learning.
