FOCUS 2
FOCUS 2 is an online, personalized career and education planning system based on established career and counseling principles. It provides a complete picture of your interests, values, personality, skills, and leisure activities using self-assessment questionnaires, interest inventories, and personality testing. After assessing your personal attributes, the system searches its career and occupational information database to identify and analyze occupations and career paths that match your personal characteristics.
FOCUS 2 is available for use by all Grand Valley State University undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni.

Passwords are cASensItiVe.
How do I retrieve my username and/or password if I have forgotten them?
If your forget your username or password, you can retrieve them from the returning student login page.
There is a link underneath the login box stating, "If you have forgotten your username or password, click
here." You will need to enter your email address, which will be your student Gmail address. The GVSU
Counseling Center does not have access to your password.
FOCUS 2 assesses you from a holistic standpoint (personality, interests, how you spend your leisure time,
etc.) and uses this data to guide you towards majors and careers that align with these characteristics.

The assessments will take you approximately 45 minutes to an hour. You can spend as much time as you
need researching the majors and careers that interest you.
Is my progress saved on FOCUS 2?
Yes, FOCUS 2 saves your test results, selected majors/careers, and portfolio. There is an option to retake
any of the assessments once you log into FOCUS 2.
How do I access FOCUS 2 if I am an alumni without a @mail.gvsu.edu account?
If you attended GVSU before Gmail accounts were assigned to students, you can email the FOCUS 2
administrator at mckenzju@gvsu.edu.
In the email, please include your:
• Name
• G number (if applicable)
• Year of attendance
• The email address you will want to use as your login.
• Please type "FOCUS 2 - Alumni" in the subject heading of your email
