Date: August 31, 2011
Grand Valley State University has been named one of the top gay-friendly universities in the nation by the 2011 Campus Pride Climate Index.
Eastern Michigan, University of Michigan, Western Michigan and GVSU were the only Michigan schools to earn a 4.5 star rating or above out of 5 possible stars. Of note, Kalamazoo College scored a 3.5, Central Michigan scored a 2.5, and Grand Rapids Community College scored a 1.5.
Go to the 2011 Campus Pride Climate Index for more details.
The Campus Climate Index ranks nearly 300 public colleges and universities based on policies, programs and practices related to inclusion and friendliness. Colleges are ranked on a scale of one to five stars, based on answers the schools provide on a voluntary survey submitted to Campus Pride.
