Abstract

The objective of this project is to create an easily repeatable process to extend and retract trailer-tow mirrors. The machine must be able to withstand 5 - 400 N, while measuring and outputting the maximum force, travel distance, average force, time, and the force vs. distance and distance vs. time graphs. The required precision tolerance for the force measurement is +/- 5 N. To maximize the versatility of the project, it is required to be able to test all current mirror programs, with a range of maximum measurable travel distance from 70-120 mm.
