The General Dynamics Land Systems Engineering Scholarship is given to qualified Grand Valley State University students who are pursuing a degree in engineering. This scholarship was initiated and endowed by General Dynamics Land Systems, headquartered in Sterling Heights, Michigan, which designs and builds armored vehicles and subsystems for the U.S. Army, the U.S. Marine Corps and international customers.

General Dynamics Land Systems was formed in 1982 when General Dynamics Corporation acquired Chrysler Corporation’s defense operations. Engineering, research and technology innovation continue to keep General Dynamics Land Systems at the forefront of the U.S. Army’s and the U.S. Marine Corps armored force modernization programs.

One scholarship of $1500 is awarded to an incoming freshman engineering student, a current School of Engineering student or transfer student entering the School of Engineering.

To be eligible, a student must:

  1. Be a current GVSU engineering student or have applied for admission to GVSU prior to December 31, and have been accepted by Grand Valley,
  2. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 in High School (if an entering freshman), at Grand Valley or at another accredited college or university,
  3. Have an ACT math sub-score of at least 27 and a composite score of at least 25, or an SAT math score of at least 665 and an SAT total of at least 1220
  4. Have successfully completed at least 6 units of high school math and science courses (if an entering freshman),
  5. Have filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form. First priority will be given to students that have financial need.
